good times. christmas was fun, i got some clothes i really like, some candy...michael crichton's new book...let me summarize the jacket summary for you. "michael crichton is a really good writer." you can read my summary of the summary, then go read the summary in the book and learn absolutely not one bit more of information. i have no fucking idea what this book is about, and with a title like "state of fear", i still have no clue. guess i'll have to read it or something. speaking of books, i'm almost finished with the final book in stephen king's dark tower series...it's really good so far, and everyone else is done with it and urging me to finish it quickly so we can discuss it. i demand that everyone read this series, since they are hands down the best seven books i have ever read. well actually i take that back, the fifth and sixth are not that great, but they're necessary for the plot as a whole. read it!
i also got some boss sunglasses from xandie, $50 in gift certificates to in-n-out (greatest gift ever), $20 to carl's jr., $20 to albertson's...i didn't expect much since my parents buy me shit throughout the year, and i would have been fine with much less than i got, but i ended up with more than i thought i would get, so that was cool. i got xandie a ring that matches her heart necklace, and i really like it. christmas dinners one and two were both awesome, too, and on christmas day we watched a lot of family guy, which was really sweet too.
my trip to LA turned out to be extremely fun. there were so many funny incidents that i couldn't begin to recount them. i stayed at donnie's for the first two nights playing video games all the time, then stayed at rosie's mom's with anthony, and spent two days hanging out with him at work. he does have the easiest job in the world, like he says. he engraves fake necklaces and blingy shit, but it's much easier than it sounds. he types what the person wants into the computer, sits back, and picks his nose, as he put it, and i didn't believe him until i actually saw how easy it was. he even let me do a couple. one time he messed up and engraved the right thing on the wrong color necklace, so he gave it to me. it says "kyle haithcox". this is actually some dude's name, but i think it sounds like a fag saying he hates cocks, which is pretty ironic. so i'm keeping it on my desk to remind me of antonio. i had so much fun i felt like i should be going down there every weekend, but of course xandie wouldn't stand for that, and i have all my other friends to think of. i've been traveling a lot, but it's fun...i went to san diego and LA already, and i'm going to the bay area on saturday for my uncle's wedding, then back to LA for a led zeppelin cover band concert, then san diego, then LA again all in january, and then in february i want to take a day trip to somewhere with snow and hills to make good use of my orange snow thing that looks like it cost two cents to manufacture but is still really fun to ride down a hill with in the snow.
i found this movie in LA that xandie's dad has been recommending for a long time that i haven't been able to find anywhere else. it's called "the serpent and the rainbow," which i think is an awesome title for a horror movie, but anthony was positive that it was actually a gay porn, judging by the title, so i surmised that the plot must be something to do with a lack of KY jelly, hence allowing them to categorize it under horror. it turned out to be a good movie, although i probably would have filed it more towards "creepy and disturbing" rather than "horror," because it wasn't really scary per se. i also saw a movie called jacob's ladder, which was good. tim robbins gives a great performance. i also finally saw the manchurian candidate, which i enjoyed as well. denzel and meryl were both really good. now i just need to see meet the fockers...
i played lots of need for speed underground 2 in LA and i played it again tonight with rickyah. that game is the fucking greatest, after maybe uh son deuce. one time i beat him in a drag race by .01 seconds, which is some pretty outrageous ass lettuce.
i came across this song that neil young wrote about an incident that happened at kent state university in ohio in 1970. a group of students were lawfully protesting the war and the national guard fired into the crowd for some reason, killing two guys and two girls aged 19 and 20. this song really hit home for me, being that i'm in college and i pretty much share what i think their views must have been, and plus it has some of the greatest guitar ever, and that's only a moderate exaggeration. i'm generally against posting song lyrics, but this one's short, and i urge you to check it out.
tin soldiers and nixon's coming,
we're finally on our own
this summer i hear the drumming
four dead in ohio
gotta get down to it
soldiers are cutting us down
should have been done long ago
what if you knew her and
found her dead on the ground
how can you run when you know?
song of the post: crosby, stills, nash and young - ohio
